This is all I could do today...

This is my shameful admission that sometimes I can’t get done everything that I want to. Instead of skipping this week’s newsletter, I'm sharing what my exhaustion looks like.
6

I call this my “shameful admission” — the fact that I couldn’t finish the newsletter that I wanted to share with you today, and instead, I’m lying almost motionless in bed for more than an hour at this point.

But what I also know is that I’m not alone.

This isn’t just MS, and it’s not just the cold I caught from my daughter.

This is our modern life. The one that thrills us and excites us yet leaves us cold when our bodies and nervous systems and hormones finally bottom out.

This is the Surgeon General’s findings on the health risks of parenting as much as the plight of approximately 129-180 million Americans living with chronic and/or autoimmune diseases; it’s a deficit of energy, strung out in today’s Attention Economy1. It’s a job market that relies on workers to do more than just their position (taking on multiple roles) for the privilege of maintaining their employment.

I could go on, but that in and of itself feels exhausting.

I’ll leave it here and say, to those of you who feel the wall of exhaustion pressing upon you, and to those who want to do so much more with your days than you have the energy for… I see you. I feel you.

Until next time,
xx M

Oh, and here’s that middle of the night video I made 8 years ago; PJs, retainer and all: Video Confession: Not So Thrivey

Know someone else who’s hitting the wall of exhaustion hard? Share this post, maybe it will make them feel better.

“The attention economy refers to the way humans manage the wealth of information at their disposal, referencing the competition for our eyes and ears as attention becomes an increasingly scarce commodity.“ LINK
